I don't have time to read the entire article but I got a fourth of the way through it. From what I can see, so far, momir basic uses everything that is already present in MTG. MWS has no trouble playing a game overflowing with tokens. The only thing that a game with somebody would require is an understanding of how this magic variant works and how to properly construct a deck.

The Article wrote:
Your deck must consist of 60 basic lands plus a Momir Vig Avatar. No sideboard. Honestly, what’s the point? No snow-covered lands. I already tried. Boreal Druid and Thermopod are the only sources of snow mana, but it rarely matters. No otherwise funky, semi-basic lands of any kind. The most leeway you have on this is that your lands can be from any set, and have any artwork.

What exactly are you unsure that MWS cannot handle?

 What? So it can't be played? I'm more than halfway through the article now and this sound bad ass!!

Alright I finished the article. Either I just don't get it or the article didn't cover in depth how you play the game. It covered a lot of strategy but I would be at a total loss if I tried to play it right now. If the article did in fact leave out the complete rules it will be hard to truly gauge if MWS can handle the game or not.

As far as the X sided die goes, isn't there anyway to work around that? Even if MWS cannot handle it would it be possible for two players to agree on terms before the game and to emulate an X sided die to a certain extent using the existing die roller? Bah once again I would need to understand the significance of using the X sided die before I could offer any suggestions .

right now, as far as I'm aware... MWS can't grab a random creature from the Master library, since once you're in the game, the Master Library is no longer open

Could somebody create this game as a plugin? Surely a plugin could access a text file that contained card names. It picks one at random, returns it to MWSPlay, and the card is created. Would that work? I know it would still require an author but it seems like creating momir basic would be an extremely easy project.

MWSLibrary doesn't close when MWSPlay opens... And you can just create a a token.

The random selection to decide what the token would be is the problem at hand though.

It's certainly possible to play it. You can always just sort by name and casting cost and roll a die. That would get you the card. But of course counting out the cards by hand would be a huge pain in the ass.

Probably too much trouble for most people to bother with :(. My favorite part of the article was the quote below. I almost stood up in my chair and shouted "ABOUT FU**IN TIME!!"
Quote:
Top Ten Reasons to Play Momir Basic Premier Events
8. Haven’t you always wanted to ride a deck of 60 basic lands to victory?

Yes, if we had 0.95, then a script plugin could be added to handle the random things. Im guessing the X sided die is random squared, the # of sides are random as is the roll. Sounds simple enough to roll a die with sides = whatever the range for X is, then roll a second with the result # of sides.

This also brings in the ability to use the Microprose cards, like Aswan Jaguar which requires a choice of a random creature type from the current contents of the opponent's library, and Whimsy which pulls random fast effects from a fixed internal list.

I wasn't aware, until this thread, that there were any cards, with the exception of UH/UNG, that MWS couldn't handle . Makes me want that upcoming version even more!!

You've never played the old magic game. It's actually pretty fun. I would definitely drop some cash for another game like it.
